The Custom Home Design Process Explained – Evergreen Custom Home Builders
The first step in the process is our Initial Meeting. We will get an idea of your unique preferences for your home, your family’s lifestyle, and the overall idea you have for your custom home. We listen to your needs and wants and collaboratively define your goals.

Next, we meet you onsite. We begin the process of land evaluation, evaluate the surroundings, the buildability, the location and positioning, set backs, etc.
Here’s where planning starts to get exciting. We discuss your style, your ideas of your dream home, we browse any Houzz and Pinterest idea boards that you’ve saved. Most importantly, we talk about all the special considerations for the design of your home. We put together some initial sketches of floorplans. Finally, we put together a preliminary budget and our “napkin design” begins to morph into the Design Development phase.
During the design development phase, we nail down the details of the floor plan, we pick some of the materials and create the final CAD documents, along with 3D models. Lastly, we compile an updated budget.
Finally, once we’ve completed the Design Development stage, we move to complete the final Construction Documents. Our Structural Engineer reviews and approves the plans. We finalize the interior design details. We then send your project to our approved list of subcontractors (and/or others you have in mind), receive bids for your review, then compile a Final Estimate for your project. Construction of your dream home begins!
